FAQs
What can I expect for my first massage?
Arrive at least 15 min prior to fill out paperwork. 10 min if paperwork was filled out online. You and I will conduct a thorough health history and customize your session based off of your intake. I will show you to our massage space where you can privately undress to your comfort level. Most massages start prone (lying on the stomach) first, but this can be modified depending on the plan created in our intake process.
We start the session with an essential oil of your choice accompanied with an opening meditation. Pressure is specified prior to our session and communicated throughout the massage. I start with a lighter pressure working into a firmer, yet comfortable pressure. A hot towel can be placed on the neck, back or feet.
While supine (face up) there is also an option to enjoy a lavender scented eye pillow. The massage will wrap up with a closing meditation and aromatherapy.
All areas remain draped unless they are being massaged. Gluteal work is done through the sheets and always consented upon before addressing. Breast tissue on both men and women are never exposed.
Is the massage going to hurt?
My approach and philosophy towards body work is that it should never be painful. '“More pain is not more gain.” Some areas maybe more sensitive or tender, depending on what the body has experienced prior to our time together. You should not feel as if you are tensing up, bracing, or not breathing. You may communicate at any point if you are experiencing discomfort or would like me to move to a different area. I pride myself in being intuitive, but that level of open communication is extremely helpful in creating a safe environment and effective massage.
What is a ‘TheraRelaxation’ massage?
This is a type of massage I have curated to describe my style of massage. I believe that relaxation needs to be the foundation of any massage in order to access the root cause to any sensations the body may be experiencing. When people want ‘deep tissue’ or therapeutic work, the body must be completely warmed up and comfortable before accessing the deeper muscles that are communicating to the brain that there needs to be more pressure. I primarily use slow, intentional movements partnered with myofascial techniques.
What should I wear for my massage?
I encourage every person to wear what is most comfortable for them- undergarments or nothing at all. As referred to in ‘What can I expect for my first massage?’ Only the areas that are being massaged will be uncovered. Breast tissue and Gluteals will never be exposed.
Am I able to choose more than one add on?
Yes, you may! Each add on is an additional $25.
Do you sell packages?
Yes! Jconnected provides two different packages:
(3) 60 min TheraRelaxation sessions
(3) 90 min TheraRelaxation sessions
Sessions are to be used within one year of purchase. They are non-refundable and non-transferable.
How do I book a massage?
You may use my online portal https://www.massagebook.com/biz/jconnected or email an appointment request to jconnected2020@gmail.com
Should I tip my massage therapist?
My prices are all inclusive; gratuity is not needed.
I woke up with a cold today, should I come in?
As tempting as it may be to seek out things that might make you feel better, it would be best to avoid getting a massage. Massages may actually make symptoms worse and run the risk of getting others and myself sick.
What if I am late arriving to my appointment?
If you are late to your appointment (on time would be 5-10 min prior to your scheduled time) then it will cut into your massage and the session will still end on time. This is to ensure quality and respect for upcoming appointments. There are instructions on appointment confirmation emails on how to reach out to me to let me know you are running late.
What is your cancellation policy?
Massage sessions require at least a 24 hour cancellation notice via email at jconnected2020@gmail.com. Anything less will be subjected to a cancellation fee up to the full amount of the session.
Coaching sessions must also give 24 hours for cancellation; otherwise, the client will forfeit that appointment and will not have an opportunity to reschedule it.
Can I get a massage if I am pregnant?
Absolutely! Massage therapy can be a wonderful way to bring comfort during the evolving stages of pregnancy. There may be risks during the 1st trimester (3 months), so you must be beyond that point and have a written referral from your current OBGYN. If unable to provide, the massage will need to be rescheduled.
When is it not OK to get a massage?
Massage can have several contraindications. If you have any of these conditions, please consult your physician before scheduling an appointment.
Please reference: https://www.massagetherapyreference.com/massage-contraindications/ to see a list of contraindications.
